Aeon, a Zurich-based preventive healthcare startup, raised over $14 million in Seed funding and acquired German blood diagnostics platform Aware Health. Here's what it means for European health tech.

Zurich-based Aeon just made a move that could reshape how we think about preventive healthcare in Europe. The company closed a Seed extension that pushes its total funding past $14 million (โ‚ฌ12 million), and simultaneously acquired German blood diagnostics platform Aware Health. Yeah, that's a lot to unpack. ### The Deal in Plain English Aeon isn't your typical health tech startup. Founded in 2023, they've built an AI-powered platform that combines whole-body MRI scans with blood diagnostics. Think of it like this: imaging shows you where you are right now, blood tests show where you're heading. AI connects the dots. The Seed extension was co-led by Araya Ventures, with existing investors like Concentric, GoHub Ventures, Kadmos Capital, and others chipping in. This follows their $9.6 million (โ‚ฌ8.2 million) Seed round from June 2025. ### Why Aware Health Matters Aware Health brings something Aeon didn't have: a fully regulated diagnostics stack, live lab integrations, and a network of over 45 blood-draw locations across Germany. They've served nearly 10,000 active customers with tests covering 100+ biomarkers. Aeon acquired the whole package โ€” technology, contracts, equipment, customer relationships, and the core team. The Berlin team stays on board. > "Imaging tells you where you are. Blood diagnostics tell you where you are heading. AI is what connects the two into prediction," says Tim Seithe, founder and CEO of Aeon. "The acquisition of Aware Health accelerates that vision by two years." ### The Bigger Picture This isn't happening in a vacuum. European preventive healthcare is heating up. Just this year, we've seen: - Ahead Health (also Zurich) raise $5.6 million (โ‚ฌ5.1 million) in January and another $9.5 million (โ‚ฌ8.7 million) in July - Paris-based Lucis secure $18.7 million (โ‚ฌ17.1 million) for AI-supported blood biomarker testing - Swiss diagnostics startup Moonlight AI pull in $3.1 million (โ‚ฌ2.8 million) - En Carta Diagnostics raise $5.5 million (โ‚ฌ5 million) Excluding Neko Health's massive Series C, these rounds add up to roughly $60 million (โ‚ฌ55 million) this year alone. ### What Aeon Actually Does Their platform detects over 500 possible anomalies across the brain, organs, and vessels through MRI. Blood diagnostics cover more than 100 biomarkers plus genetic risk analysis. With Aware Health, they're now the first European platform to offer a continuous, longitudinal health picture โ€” updated quarter after quarter. More than 90% of Aeon check-ups surface findings customers can act on. The significant finding rate sits at 15.4%. "Aeon is building something genuinely new in European healthcare," adds Rupa Popat, General Partner at Araya Ventures. "The combination of imaging, recurring blood diagnostics, and AI creates a longitudinal health picture that no other platform in Europe offers." ### What This Means for You If you're watching the European startup scene, this deal signals that preventive health is no longer a niche. Investors are betting big on platforms that combine multiple data sources โ€” imaging, blood work, genetics โ€” into something actionable. The days of one-off health checks might be numbered.
