Konsileo, a UK-based InsurTech, raises $6.4M to expand its team and integrate AI into its proprietary broking platform.
Konsileo, a UK-based chartered insurance broker, just raised $6.4 million (£5 million) in equity funding. The round was led by long-term backers Committed Capital and ACF Investors. This follows a $3.5 million (£2.7 million) raise in April 2018 and $10.2 million (£8 million) in debt and equity financing in November 2024.
### Why Investors Are Doubling Down
Steven Harris, CEO of Committed Capital, didn't hold back his enthusiasm: "We are delighted to have completed this round and to deepen our long-standing commitment to Konsileo. John, Peter and the team have built one of the fastest-growing independent brokers in the UK, and they have done it organically, broker by broker, rather than through acquisition."
He added, "That growth rests on two things that are very hard to replicate: a proprietary broking platform that strips out administration, embeds compliance and is now putting AI to work for brokers, and a culture that consistently attracts the most talented people in the industry."
### The Brains Behind the Broker
Founded in 2017 by John Warburton and Peter Henderson, Konsileo was born from frustration with a slow, bureaucratic insurance sector. Warburton, a veteran of Aviva, Accenture, and Allianz, built the company around a "Teal" organizational model. That means self-managed teams, coaching, and decentralized decision-making instead of traditional hierarchies.
Henderson brings serious tech chops—he was at the helm of web digitization in the 1990s. Together, they've created a company that now employs over 220 people and arranges more than $109 million (£85 million) in annual insurance premiums for UK businesses. From construction to healthcare, technology to professional services, Konsileo covers a lot of ground.
### The Secret Sauce: Tech That Frees Brokers
At the heart of Konsileo's offering is a proprietary broking platform that automates admin tasks, embeds compliance checks, and helps brokers capture better risk information. The firm also runs Riskube, a custom online platform where clients can manage their policies directly.
The goal? Free brokers from paperwork so they can focus on what matters: building relationships and giving solid advice. And unlike many competitors, Konsileo doesn't grow by buying up other brokerages. Instead, it recruits brokers one at a time and invests in their development through the Konsileo Academy.
Warburton, co-founder and CEO, put it simply: "We've always believed that great brokers do their best work when you give them autonomy, equip them properly and support them rather than manage them. Our growth is a testament to what happens when you offer something genuinely different to ambitious brokers who want to build brilliant client relationships."
### What's Next for Konsileo?
The new funding will help Konsileo attract more experienced broking professionals, further develop its tech platform with AI capabilities, and keep the organic growth engine running. If you're a broker tired of red tape, this might be your sign to check them out.
