Titan OS raises $46M to challenge Roku and Android TV with its independent smart TV operating system. The Barcelona-based company plans to expand globally and invest in ad tech.
Titan OS, the Barcelona-based company behind an independent smart TV operating system, just closed a $46 million (€40 million) financing round. That's a big deal for a European startup trying to take on the giants of the TV world.
You might be thinking, "Another smart TV OS?" But Titan OS is different. It's Linux-based, and it's designed to replace platforms like Android TV and Roku on your television screen. And it's already in millions of homes across Europe.
### Who's Betting on Titan OS?
The round included existing investors Highland Europe and Mangrove Capital Partners, plus a credit facility from funds managed by BlackRock. This follows a $54 million (€50 million) Series A in December 2025, bringing total funding to $110 million (€97 million).
Hyoung-Ung Kim, CFO of Titan OS, said: "Three years after launch, Titan OS is already in millions of homes and continues to deliver strong year-on-year growth as Europe's leading independent operating system for connected TVs." He added that the new capital will help them "become a true global player, built from Barcelona, in a market currently dominated by US and Asian companies."
### Why TV Makers Love It
For TV manufacturers like Philips and JVC, Titan OS offers a customizable software platform and a revenue-sharing advertising model. That means brands earn continuous money from on-screen ads and pre-installed Free Ad-supported Streaming TV (FAST) channels. It's a win-win: manufacturers get a cut of ad revenue, and viewers get a smooth, localized interface that bundles major global apps, live TV, and free streaming content into one home screen.
Laurence Garrett, General Partner at Highland Europe, explained the appeal: "TV makers earn a share of the revenue their screens generate for years after the sale. Advertisers reach millions of homes across many TV brands. And unlike the walled gardens, Titan is a partner, not a competitor. That attracts more TV brands, which brings more viewers and more advertisers. We're excited to double down."
### The Flywheel Effect
That flywheel is already spinning. Titan OS has reportedly scaled revenues by 15 times and licensed its technology to major global TV brands including Philips, AOC, JVC, Vestel, Skyworth, and Sharp. Founded in 2023 by Jacinto Roca (who previously founded Wuaki.tv, acquired by Rakuten) and co-founders Timothy Edwards, Miquel Barba, and Tobias Pfalzgraff, the company is proving that European tech can compete on a global stage.

### What's Next for Titan OS?
With this new funding, Titan OS plans to strengthen its position as an independent TV OS from Europe, expand its global OEM partnerships, and invest further in product innovation and advertising technology. That means better user experiences and more monetization opportunities for ecosystem partners.
In 2026, EU-Startups has reported further investment in adjacent marketing technologies, including Sweden's Funnel (€67.1 million), UK-based Searchable (€11.9 million) and Dragonfly AI (€5.7 million), Portugal's DOJO AI (€5.1 million), Sweden's Fluencify (€3.7 million), the Netherlands' Aizy (€2 million), and Spain's Modelia (€1.03 million). Together, these 2026 rounds amount to approximately €96.5 million, or €136.5 million including Titan OS's new financing.
So if you're tired of the same old smart TV interfaces, keep an eye on Titan OS. It might just be the alternative you've been waiting for.
