AI That Learns Your Accounting Secrets Just Raised $1.6M

Talky Labs raises €1.5M to teach AI the unwritten rules of accounting. The Madrid startup's platform learns company-specific quirks to automate finance ops, processing up to 93% of documents without human help.

Talky Labs, a Madrid-based startup, just raised €1.5 million (about $1.6 million) in pre-seed funding. Their mission? To teach AI the unwritten rules of accounting—the stuff that never makes it into the manual. ### The Funding Details The round closed in September 2026 and saw participation from HelloWorld, Silence VC, Motive Force, and Aera Capital. Angel investors included Sebastián Gunningham (CEO of Remitly), Paul Golbaum (CEO of Lightbase and former CTO of Seedtag), and Javier Morenés, among others. ### Why Talky Stands Out Every company does accounting a little differently. Those quirks usually live in people's heads, not in documentation. Talky's AI learns from a company's historical records and the expertise of its finance team. It then applies that knowledge to new transactions—even the tricky ones. > "Every company has its own way of doing accounting, and it's almost never written down. Talky learns those criteria, applies them to the hard cases and turns them into information for better decisions," says Jorge Beamonte, co-founder and CEO. When the system hits a snag, it knows who to ask. That human-in-the-loop approach helps Talky process 86% to 93% of documents without any intervention. The platform reads invoices, suggests entries, reviews tax info, and reconciles bank transactions before syncing with the client's ERP. ### Traction and Team Founded in 2025 by Beamonte and Maximilian Letón (23), Talky has just nine employees. Yet it's already processed over 1.8 million documents and more than €2 billion (about $2.2 billion) in client spending. Not bad for a team you could fit in a minivan. ### A Hot Sector Talky's raise is part of a wave of European investments in AI-powered accounting. In 2026 alone: - Belgium's Dytto raised €1.5 million for its AI assistant for accountants. - Denmark's Plinto secured €2.9 million for automated financial controls. - Germany's mika raised €6 million for AI-powered accounting and tax services. - UK-based Zalos obtained €3.1 million for enterprise finance automation. - Barcelona's Dolfin secured €2.1 million for adjacent financial workflows. Together, these rounds amount to approximately €66.8 million (about $73 million). ### What's Next Talky plans to use the fresh capital to expand its team, further develop the product, and beef up its technical infrastructure. The startup is also eyeing larger enterprises and financial services providers that handle high volumes of transactions. Recruitment is a top priority. With just nine people, there's plenty of room to grow. And as more companies look to automate the messy, judgment-heavy parts of finance, Talky's approach—learning the unwritten rules—could be a game-changer. After all, accounting is as much an art as a science. Talky's bet is that AI can learn the art.
