Talky Labs raises $1.8M to teach AI the unwritten rules of accounting. The Spanish startup's platform learns each company's unique financial quirks and automates 86-93% of documents.
Talky Labs, a Spanish startup on a mission to teach AI the unwritten rules of accounting, just raised €1.5 million (about $1.8 million) in pre-Seed funding. The round, closed in September 2026, was led by HelloWorld, Silence VC, Motive Force, and Aera Capital. Angel investors like Sebastián Gunningham (CEO of Remitly), Paul Golbaum (CEO of Lightbase and former CTO of Seedtag), and Javier Morenés also chipped in.
So why does this matter? Because accounting is messy. Every company has its own way of doing things, and as Talky's co-founder and CEO Jorge Beamonte puts it: "Every company has its own way of doing accounting, and it's almost never written down." Talky's AI learns those criteria, applies them to the hard cases, and turns them into information for better decisions.
### The Unwritten Rules of Accounting
Here's the problem: accounting decisions often rely on information scattered across enterprise systems, spreadsheets, emails, contracts, and the heads of your finance team. Traditional automation tools can handle standard transactions, but unusual invoices or exceptions? They often require manual intervention, causing delays and errors.
Talky's platform flips that. It uses AI to learn from a company's historical accounting records and the expertise of its financial teams. Instead of relying solely on predefined rules, it identifies how previous transactions were handled, extracts the relevant criteria, and applies that knowledge to new operations. When the system hits a snag—an unfamiliar situation or not enough info—it knows exactly which employee to consult.
### A Young Team Punching Above Its Weight
Founded in 2025 by Beamonte and Maximilian Letón (23), Talky has just nine employees. Yet it's already processed over 1.8 million documents and more than €2 billion (about $2.4 billion) in client spending. That's impressive for a team that could fit around a single table.
> "Two years ago, I met my co-founder Jorge Beamonte at a networking event. That night, I called my mom and told her: 'Mom, today is the most important day of my life. Everything is about to change.'" – Maximilian Letón
Talky's technology processes between 86% and 93% of accounting documents without human intervention. It reads invoices, suggests accounting entries, reviews tax information, and reconciles bank transactions before recording results in the client's ERP system.
### Riding the AI Accounting Wave
Talky's funding is part of a broader trend. In 2026, European startups in AI-powered accounting and financial operations have been on a tear:
- Belgium's Dytto raised €1.5 million ($1.8M) for its AI assistant for accountants.
- Denmark's Plinto secured €2.9 million ($3.5M) for automated financial controls.
- Germany's mika raised €6 million ($7.3M) for AI-powered accounting and tax services.
- UK-based Zalos obtained €3.1 million ($3.8M) for enterprise finance automation.
- Barcelona's Dolfin secured €2.1 million ($2.5M) for adjacent financial workflows.
Together, these rounds amount to roughly €66.8 million ($81 million), including Talky's. Clearly, investors see a massive opportunity in automating the financial back office.
### What's Next for Talky?
With the fresh capital, Talky plans to expand its team—recruitment is a top priority—and further develop its platform alongside existing customers. The startup also aims to grow its presence among large enterprises and financial services providers that handle high volumes of transactions.
For now, Talky is proving that even the most human of tasks—like deciphering a company's unique accounting quirks—can be taught to a machine. And that's a lesson worth millions.
