Talky's $1.6M Bet: Teaching AI Your Company's Accounting Secrets

Talky Labs raises $1.6M to teach AI the unwritten rules of accounting, helping businesses automate financial operations and reduce manual intervention.

Talky Labs, a Spanish startup, just raised $1.6 million in pre-Seed funding to teach AI the unwritten rules of accounting. The round, closed in September 2026, was led by HelloWorld, Silence VC, Motive Force, and Aera Capital, with angels like Sebastián Gunningham (CEO of Remitly) and Paul Golbaum (CEO of Lightbase) joining in. So what's the big deal? Talky is tackling a problem that every finance team knows too well: accounting decisions often live in people's heads, not in a manual. "Every company has its own way of doing accounting, and it's almost never written down," says Jorge Beamonte, co-founder and CEO. "Talky learns those criteria, applies them to the hard cases, and turns them into information for better decisions." ### The Problem with Traditional Automation Most automation tools can handle standard transactions, but they stumble on the weird stuff—unusual invoices, exceptions, or one-off situations. That's when humans have to step in, causing delays and errors. Talky's AI learns from a company's historical records and the expertise of its finance team. Instead of rigid rules, it identifies patterns and applies them to new transactions. And when it gets stuck? It knows who to ask. "When the system encounters an unfamiliar situation or lacks sufficient information, it identifies the appropriate employee to consult," the company explains. ### Impressive Traction for a Tiny Team With just nine employees, Talky has already processed over 1.8 million documents and $2.1 billion in client spending. That's not bad for a startup founded in 2025. The platform reads invoices, suggests accounting entries, reviews tax info, and reconciles bank transactions before recording everything in the client's ERP system. According to Talky, it handles 86% to 93% of documents without any human intervention. > "Two years ago, I met my co-founder Jorge Beamonte at a networking event. That night, I called my mom and told her: 'Mom, today is the most important day of my life. Everything is about to change.'" — Maximilian Letón, co-founder and COO ### A Hot Sector in Europe Talky's raise is part of a broader trend. In 2026, European startups in AI-powered accounting and finance have been pulling in cash: - Belgium's Dytto raised $1.6 million for its AI assistant for accountants. - Denmark's Plinto secured $3.1 million for automated financial controls. - Germany's mika raised $6.5 million for AI-powered accounting and tax services. - UK-based Zalos obtained $3.3 million for enterprise finance automation. - Spain's Dolfin (based in Barcelona) secured $2.3 million for adjacent financial workflows. Together, these rounds amount to roughly $72 million—and that's just the ones we know about. ### What's Next for Talky? The fresh capital will go toward team expansion, product development, and infrastructure improvements. The startup also plans to grow its presence among large enterprises and financial services providers that handle high volumes of transactions. Recruitment is a top priority, so expect to see more hires soon. For now, Talky is proving that even the most human of tasks—like knowing how your company handles that weird invoice from 2019—can be taught to a machine. And investors are betting that's a lesson worth paying for.
