Swedish startups raised $1.4B in 2026's biggest rounds. From AI to pet insurance, here are the top 10 deals and the investors behind them.

When a Stockholm-based AI company lands a $400 million round in a single week, you pay attention. That's exactly what happened with Lovable's Series C, and it got us thinking about the broader picture. So we dug into Sweden's startup funding scene for 2026, and the results are pretty wild. Sweden keeps punching above its weight in Europe's startup ecosystem. Stockholm alone is home to most of the biggest rounds we've tracked this year, spanning HealthTech, AI, FinTech, LegalTech, and even pet insurance. It's not just about the money—it's about the variety of industries attracting serious capital. For this ranking, we pulled together every Swedish startup and scale-up funding round we covered between January 1 and August 14, 2026. We ranked them by the size of the round announced or completed during that window. To keep things apples-to-apples, we left out VC fund closes, acquisitions, grants, loans, and credit lines. If a company announced an extension to an earlier round, we only counted the new money raised in 2026. All together, these ten rounds add up to roughly $1.4 billion. But here's the kicker: the two biggest deals—Neko Health and Lovable—account for about 79% of that total. And eight of the ten companies are headquartered in Stockholm. That's some serious concentration of talent and capital. ### 10. Lightbringer – $10 million Series A Malmö-based LegalTech startup Lightbringer raised $10 million in June to fuel its US expansion and build out its product. The round was co-led by 6 Degrees Capital and Newion. We'd previously covered Lightbringer's $4.9 million round back in 2024, so this is a nice step up for the team. ### 9. Bits – $14 million Series A Stockholm-based FinTech infrastructure startup Bits secured $14 million to automate more of the financial crime and compliance workflow. They're also expanding product capabilities and adding European data coverage. Alstin Capital led the round, with help from Cherry Ventures, Unusual Ventures, and Alliance Ventures. Bits had raised $4.7 million in 2023, so this round represents a serious vote of confidence. ### 8. Pit – $15.8 million Pit came out of stealth in May with $15.8 million led by Andreessen Horowitz. The founders are former leaders from Voi, Klarna, and iZettle—so they know a thing or two about scaling. They're building AI-native software for enterprise operations, which they describe as an "AI product team as a service" model. Interesting concept, and clearly investors are buying it. ### 7. AlixLabs – $17.4 million Series A Lund-based semiconductor startup AlixLabs closed its Series A in Q1 2026. The money is earmarked for accelerating product development and strengthening relationships with chip manufacturers. Most of the round—$16.4 million—was actually subscribed back in November 2025, with the final close happening this year. ### 6. Quartr – $18.1 million Quartr, a Stockholm-based financial data company, closed an $18.1 million round in August. They're using the funds to speed up product development and expand coverage of public-company data worldwide. Existing investor Altos Ventures led the round, with SEB joining as a new backer. Quartr had previously raised $6.3 million from Altos in 2024 and another $8.1 million in 2022. ### 5. Legora – $48.8 million Series D extension Legal AI company Legora announced $48.8 million in additional funding in April. That extends their Series D to a total of $595 million and values the Stockholm-based company at $5.5 billion post-money. New investors include Atlassian and NVentures, NVIDIA's venture arm. For this list, we only counted the new capital from 2026, not the full round. ### 4. Lassie – $73.4 million Series C Pet InsurTech Lassie raised $73.4 million in February to expand across Europe and lean harder into AI. The round included Balderton Capital, Felix Capital, Inventure, Passion Capital, and Stena Sessan. It's a solid sign that pet insurance is becoming a serious category in Europe. ### The Big Two: Neko Health and Lovable We didn't rank the top three in this piece because the original list stopped at four, but it's worth noting that Neko Health and Lovable together pulled in the lion's share of capital. Lovable's $400 million Series C alone is one of the largest rounds in Europe this year. ### What This Means for the Swedish Ecosystem - Stockholm remains the clear hub, with 8 of 10 companies based there - AI and fintech are leading the charge, but legal tech and insurtech are gaining ground - US investors like Andreessen Horowitz and Altos Ventures are actively participating Sweden's startup scene isn't just surviving—it's thriving. And with this kind of momentum, we wouldn't be surprised to see even bigger rounds before the year is out.
