Sweden's startup scene is on fire in 2026. From a $373M Series C for Lovable to a $68.8M round for Lassie, here are the ten biggest funding rounds from Swedish startups this year.

When a Stockholm-based AI startup grabs a $373 million Series C in a single week, it's worth paying attention. That's exactly what happened with Lovable, and it got us thinking: what else is happening in Sweden's startup scene this year? Sweden has quietly become one of Europe's most consistent producers of big funding rounds. From HealthTech and AI to FinTech, LegalTech, and consumer brands, Swedish startups are pulling in serious capital across a wide range of sectors. And most of that money is flowing into Stockholm, which continues to cement its reputation as a Nordic powerhouse. We've combed through our funding coverage from January 1 through August 14, 2026, and ranked the biggest rounds by Swedish startups and scale-ups. To keep things fair, we excluded VC fund closes, acquisitions, grants, loans, and credit facilities. If a company announced an extension to an earlier round, we only counted the new capital raised in 2026. All together, the ten rounds below add up to roughly $1.32 billion. The two biggest winners β€” Neko Health and Lovable β€” account for about 79% of that total. And eight of the ten companies are headquartered in Stockholm. Here's the full breakdown. ### 10. Lightbringer – $9.4 million Series A MalmΓΆ-based LegalTech startup Lightbringer raised $9.4 million in June to fuel its US expansion and push product development forward. The round was co-led by 6 Degrees Capital and Newion. We previously covered Lightbringer's $4.6 million round back in 2024. ### 9. Bits – $13.1 million Series A Stockholm-based FinTech infrastructure startup Bits secured $13.1 million to automate more of the financial crime and compliance workflow. The money will also help expand product capabilities and add broader European data coverage. Alstin Capital led the round, with participation from Cherry Ventures, Unusual Ventures, and Alliance Ventures. We'd previously reported on Bits' $4.4 million round in 2023. ### 8. Pit – $14.8 million Pit emerged from stealth in May with $14.8 million in funding led by Andreessen Horowitz. Founded by former leaders from Voi, Klarna, and iZettle, the company is building AI-native software for enterprise operations. Their pitch? Think of it as an "AI product team as a service" β€” a model that could seriously shake up how companies approach internal tools. ### 7. AlixLabs – $16.3 million Series A Lund-based semiconductor startup AlixLabs closed its $16.3 million Series A in the first quarter of 2026. The cash is earmarked for speeding up product development, expanding technical capabilities, and strengthening ties with semiconductor manufacturers. Interestingly, most of the round β€” $15.3 million β€” was already subscribed back in November 2025 before the final close this year. ### 6. Quartr – $17 million Stockholm-based financial data company Quartr wrapped up a $17 million round in August. The goal? Accelerate product development and widen its coverage of public-company data worldwide. Existing investor Altos Ventures led the funding, with SEB joining as a new backer. We'd previously covered Quartr's $5.9 million investment from Altos in 2024 and a $7.6 million raise in 2022. ### 5. Legora – $45.7 million Series D extension Legal AI company Legora announced $45.7 million in additional funding in April, extending its Series D to a massive $558 million total. That values the Stockholm-based company at $5.1 billion post-money. New investors in this extension included Atlassian and NVentures, NVIDIA's venture capital arm. For this ranking, we only counted the new capital announced in 2026. We previously reported on Legora's $76.2 million Series B in 2025. ### 4. Lassie – $68.8 million Series C Stockholm-based pet InsurTech Lassie raised $68.8 million in February to expand further across Europe and boost its use of AI. Balderton Capital, Felix Capital, Inventure, Passion Capital, and Stena Sessan all participated. We'd covered Lassie before, and it's clear the company is on a strong trajectory. ### The Big Picture What's striking about this list isn't just the sheer size of the rounds β€” it's the diversity. You've got LegalTech, FinTech, semiconductors, pet insurance, and AI all pulling in nine-figure valuations. Sweden may be a small country, but its startup ecosystem punches well above its weight. - Eight out of ten companies are based in Stockholm - Two rounds account for nearly 80% of total funding - Sectors range from HealthTech to LegalTech to InsurTech If this pace keeps up, Sweden could easily produce several more unicorns before the year is out. And with Lovable's massive Series C leading the charge, the momentum shows no signs of slowing down.
