Sensie Raises $580k to Give Greenhouses Real-Time Plant Intelligence

A Belgian startup is giving greenhouse growers a new superpower: the ability to hear what their plants are actually saying. Sensie, an AgTech company based in Ghent, just raised $580,000 (€500k) in a pre-Seed round to accelerate its plant intelligence platform for professional growers. ### The Funding Round The round was led by Division Q, with help from NewSchool.vc and Percival Participations. This news comes right after Sensie's first greenhouse deployments, its public launch, and a big honor: being named a Top 3 finalist for the GreenTech Innovation Awards 2026. The winner gets announced next week at GreenTech Amsterdam.  ### What Sensie Does Here's the problem Sensie solves. Right now, growers can measure almost everything about their greenhouse – the temperature, the humidity, how much water the soil holds. But they can't measure what the plant itself is feeling. Sensie changes that. Its wireless plant health wearable – called Sensie Omni – clips onto plants and captures real-time physiological signals. Think growth rate, water status, stress levels, and how fast the plant recovers after stress. It then translates that data into clear, actionable insights for better irrigation, climate control, and cultivation decisions. ### Why It Matters "Modern greenhouse horticulture is already highly data-driven," NewSchool.vc noted on LinkedIn. "Yet one critical voice has largely been missing from the conversation: the plant itself." That's the gap Sensie fills. The device combines three layers of information in one wireless unit: - Supply (what's happening in the root zone) - Demand (the micro-climate around the plant) - Response (how the plant is actually reacting) This gives growers a complete picture. Instead of guessing if a plant needs more water or less heat, they can see exactly how the crop is responding to every decision they make – irrigation, ventilation, screening, you name it. ### What the CEO Says Olivier Begerem, co-founder and CEO, called the past six weeks "crazy" in a LinkedIn post. "Starting our first greenhouse deployments, introducing Sensie to the world, joining the HortiHeroes ecosystem, and being selected as a Top 3 nominee for the GreenTech Innovation Awards 2026. It has been intense in the best possible way." He also emphasized this funding is about more than money. "It is about bringing the right people around the table as we move from our first installations toward a system growers can rely on every single day." ### What's Next With this cash, Sensie plans to fine-tune its hardware and software, speed up commercial rollout, and expand real greenhouse deployments. The startup is also on the lookout for certified distributors, technology partners, and research collaborators who want to help shape the future of plant-driven cultivation. Founded in 2025 by Begerem and Christophe Sysmans (CTO), Sensie's mission is to democratize plant intelligence.
