Sensie Raises $545K for Real-Time Plant Intelligence

A Belgian AgTech startup is giving greenhouse growers a new way to listen to their crops. Sensie, based in Ghent, has raised $545,000 (€500k) in a pre-Seed round to bring real-time plant intelligence to professional growers. The funding was led by Division Q, with support from NewSchool.vc and Percival Participations. This news comes hot on the heels of Sensie's first greenhouse deployments, its public launch, and a nomination as a Top 3 finalist for the GreenTech Innovation Awards 2026. The winner will be announced next week at GreenTech Amsterdam. ### What Sensie Actually Does Here's the thing: growers already track a ton of data—climate conditions, irrigation schedules, soil moisture. But they've been missing one critical piece: what the plant itself is feeling. Sensie changes that. The company created a wireless plant health wearable that measures direct physiological signals. We're talking growth rates, water status, stress levels, and recovery patterns. It then translates those signals into clear insights for better decisions about irrigation, climate control, and cultivation strategies. Olivier Begerem, co-founder and CEO, summed it up on LinkedIn: "The past six weeks have been crazy. It is about bringing the right people around the table as we move from our first installations toward a system growers can rely on every single day."  ### The Product: Sensie Omni Sensie's first product, called Sensie Omni, combines direct plant feedback with root-zone and climate context. It captures the critical interaction between three elements: - **Supply** (what's happening in the root zone) - **Demand** (the micro-climate around the plant) - **Response** (how the plant is actually reacting) All of this comes from a single wireless device. The goal is simple: help growers understand how their crops respond to decisions like irrigation, ventilation, and climate strategy. Founded in 2025 by Begerem and Christophe Sysmans (CTO), Sensie aims to democratize plant intelligence. They want to move growers beyond climate and substrate data by measuring how the plant itself responds in real time.
