Sensie raises $540k for real-time plant intelligence

Ghent-based AgTech startup Sensie raises $540,000 to bring real-time plant intelligence to greenhouse growers with wireless sensors that measure plant stress and recovery.

Sensie, a Ghent-based AgTech startup, has raised $540,000 in a pre-Seed funding round. The money will help them bring real-time plant intelligence to professional greenhouse growers. The round was led by Division Q, with help from NewSchool.vc and Percival Participations. This news comes right after Sensie started its first greenhouse deployments, launched publicly, and got nominated as a Top 3 finalist for the GreenTech Innovation Awards 2026. The winner will be announced next week at GreenTech Amsterdam. ### What Sensie does differently Most growers already track climate, irrigation, and substrate data. But Sensie believes there's a missing piece—the plant itself. The company builds a wireless plant health wearable that measures how the plant responds in real time. Think of it like a fitness tracker for plants. Its first product, Sensie Omni, combines direct plant feedback with root-zone and climate context. It captures the interaction between Supply (root zone), Demand (micro-climate), and Response (plant stress) in one wireless device. That helps growers understand how their crop reacts to decisions like irrigation, ventilation, and climate strategy. ### Why this matters for growers Modern greenhouse horticulture is already data-driven. But one critical voice has been missing: the plant. Sensie changes that with affordable wireless sensors that combine climate, irrigation, and substrate data with direct physiological feedback. The result is a step toward truly plant-driven cultivation. Here's what Sensie's sensors track: - Growth - Water status - Stress levels - Recovery patterns These signals get translated into clear insights for better irrigation, climate, and cultivation decisions. ### The people behind Sensie Founded in 2025 by Olivier Begerem and Christophe Sysmans (CTO), Sensie aims to democratize plant intelligence. Begerem said on LinkedIn, "The past six weeks have been crazy. Starting our first greenhouse deployments, introducing Sensie to the world, joining the HortiHeroes ecosystem, and being selected as a Top 3 nominee for the GreenTech Innovation Awards 2026. It has been intense in the best possible way." He added, "This funding is about more than capital. It is about bringing the right people around the table as we move from our first installations toward a system growers can rely on every single day. It gives us the support to keep building, testing, and improving alongside growers, researchers, and technology partners." ### What the funding will do With this $540,000, the company plans to optimize its hardware and software and speed up its commercial rollout. They want to scale Sensie, expand real greenhouse deployments, and develop their platform further. The startup is also looking for certified distributors, technology partners, and research collaborators. NewSchool.vc mentioned on LinkedIn, "Modern greenhouse horticulture is already highly data-driven. Yet one critical voice has largely been missing from the conversation: the plant itself. Sensie is changing that with affordable, wireless plant sensors that combine climate, irrigation, and substrate data with direct physiological feedback from the crop. The result is a powerful step toward truly plant-driven cultivation, helping growers make better decisions based on what their plants are actually experiencing." ### What's next Sensie is still early, but their approach is gaining traction. If they can prove their sensors work at scale, they could change how greenhouse growers manage their crops. The GreenTech Innovation Awards will be a big test—and a win could open more doors.
