Procuros raises €20M ($21.7M) Series A to build AI-native infrastructure for autonomous B2B trade. The Hamburg startup already processes over $3.25B in annual order volume and is now expanding to the US.

Procuros, a Hamburg-based supply chain connectivity platform, just closed a €20 million Series A round. That's about $21.7 million at current exchange rates. The round was led by XAnge, a European VC firm with roughly $650 million in assets under management, part of the Siparex Group. New investor W23, a global fund backed by five leading grocery retailers, also joined. Existing backers Point Nine, Creandum, and b2venture followed on, along with several angels. This isn't Procuros's first rodeo. The company raised €1 million pre-Seed in 2021 and €8.3 million Seed in 2022. So they've been building quietly for a few years. Now they're ready to scale. ### What Procuros Actually Does (And Why It Matters) Founded in 2021 by Patrick Thelen and Benjamin Bradford, Procuros serves suppliers and retailers with a connectivity platform that acts as the agentic data layer for B2B trade. Here's the simple premise: you connect to Procuros once, and suddenly you can exchange data with any trading partner. Doesn't matter what systems, formats, or technical setups they use. The platform validates data on both sides of a transaction, so you don't need complex point-to-point integrations. For suppliers, Procuros automates orders, shipping notices, invoices, and logistics workflows directly into ERP systems. No more manual data entry. For retailers, it's a fully digital supplier connectivity platform covering EDI connections, e-invoicing, and automated invoice reconciliation. The company claims 99%+ data accuracy and up to 95% less manual processing. Think about that for a second. The global supply chain handles millions of documents every day. Purchase orders, dispatch advice, invoices. But the infrastructure behind it is ancient. Many transactions still arrive as PDFs, spreadsheets, or even fax. Yes, fax. Procuros believes AI can change that, and its platform is the connectivity layer. ### The Bigger Picture: AI Agents Need Infrastructure "AI is advancing at incredible speed, while supply chains still run on infrastructure built decades ago," said Thelen, CEO and co-founder. "Operations teams are forced to bridge these gaps between systems that simply don't communicate. We built Procuros to change that. Our infrastructure gives retailers, suppliers and AI agents the connectivity and trusted data they need to automate trade and make autonomous supply chains possible. Because ultimately, AI agents are only as good as the infrastructure they run on." That last line hits hard. You can have the smartest AI in the world, but if it's stuck dealing with faxes and PDFs, it's useless. Procuros is building the pipes that let AI actually do something in B2B trade. Valerie Bures-Bönström, Partner and Managing Director DACH at XAnge, added: "Procuros is showing that AI agents can make autonomous B2B trade a reality today. The team has built the infrastructure AI agents need to work across entire trading networks and proven the model at scale in DACH. What excites us is the opportunity ahead: to take this beyond its home market and establish an entirely new category for global B2B trade." ### Traction and What's Next Procuros already has more than 300 customers across DACH and the UK. That includes names like Breuninger, Chefs Culinar, KoRo, flaconi, The Quality Group (ESN), and Hitschler. The company says more than €3 billion ($3.25 billion) in annualised order volume flows through the platform. That's real scale. The new funding will go toward three main areas: - Scaling go-to-market operations - Further developing AI-native supply chain infrastructure - International expansion beyond DACH and the UK into the rest of Europe and the United States So if you're in the US and you've been wondering when European B2B trade infrastructure would catch up, the answer might be: sooner than you think. Procuros is coming. ### Why This Matters for US Audiences If you run a supply chain or e-commerce operation in the US, you know the pain of integrating with partners who use different systems. Procuros is essentially solving that problem with a single connection. And now they're bringing that model to the US market. It's a space worth watching. The company isn't just another SaaS tool. They're building the infrastructure layer for autonomous trade. And with $21.7 million in fresh capital, they have the runway to make it happen.
