OurMind raises $2.4M to cut healthcare admin with AI. The Amsterdam startup's platform reduces burnout by automating documentation, used by 300+ practices and 14 hospitals.
OurMind, an Amsterdam-based startup that uses AI to slash administrative work for healthcare providers and fight burnout, just raised $2.4 million (€2.1 million) to grow its platform and reach more hospitals.
The funding round was led by 4impact capital, with a group of general practitioners and medical specialists also chipping in significantly.
### Why This Matters Right Now
Healthcare systems everywhere are under pressure. In the Netherlands, one in seven workers already works in healthcare. But by 2040, the Scientific Council for Government Policy (WRR) predicts one in four workers will be needed just to keep up. That's not sustainable.
A recent study by De Jonge Specialist found that a quarter of young doctors show burnout symptoms. Waiting lists are growing, doctors work overtime, and job satisfaction is dropping fast.

### What OurMind Actually Does
Founded in 2024 by Marco Ferraz, Paul Koning, Renan Sales Barros, and Fredrik Gustafsson, OurMind builds a personal AI platform that adapts to each user. It started with a tool called Notes—AI that turns doctor-patient conversations into medical documentation automatically.
Now, the platform is expanding to include:
- Consultation preparation (saving doctors 2-3 hours daily)
- Administrative support
- Patient communication
- Other time-saving features
Over 300 general practices and 14 hospitals already use it.

### The Human Side of AI in Healthcare
Paul Koning, a former orthopedic surgeon and OurMind founder, said, "This investment lets us scale to meet hospital demand. Ultimately, this isn't about AI—it's about delivering good care with the same number of people."
Cardiologist Bart Driesen of Maasziekenhuis Pantein added, "Five years ago, there was no sense of urgency. Now we have over 150 patients on waiting lists who can't get appointments. That's not sustainable. If AI can take over those 2-3 hours of evening prep work, it changes our whole day."
### The Cost of Doing Nothing
Koning points out that burnout doesn't just hurt the individual. It hits colleagues and hospitals hard. "The costs of doing nothing—staff absence, waiting lists, people leaving—are far greater than investing in AI support now."
This is the first HealthTech investment for 4impact capital, a Dutch VC that usually funds software tackling energy, sustainability, and digitalization. Their investment is backed by Invest-NL and the European Union under the InvestEU Fund.
Partner Victor Straatman explained, "We're venture capital, not private equity. Everything OurMind earns stays in the company for growth. We bring knowledge, network, and guidance too."
### Security and Compliance
OurMind takes security seriously. It's GDPR compliant, ISO27001 certified, and holds NEN7510 certification. That means healthcare data stays protected.
### The Bottom Line
OurMind's $2.4 million raise isn't just about tech. It's about keeping doctors healthy and patients cared for. As Koning put it, "The goal is to preserve job satisfaction and reduce burnouts." With growing hospital adoption and a clear mission, this Dutch startup is one to watch.
