Oslo-based AI startup Mimir raises $600K pre-Seed to automate e-commerce operations. Founded in 2024, it handles 250K monthly conversations for 60 brands across 5 countries.
Mimir, an Oslo-based startup building AI that automates e-commerce operations, just closed a $600,000 pre-Seed round. That's around $518,300 in euros, but we'll stick with dollars here.
The round was led by Sondo Capital, an Oslo-based venture capital firm, with support from a bunch of experienced angel investors from the Nordic tech and e-commerce scenes. Some of those names include folks from VILLOID, Kry, Enode, and Whitson.
### What Mimir Actually Does
Mimir started as an AI-native customer support platform for B2C e-commerce companies. Founded in 2024 by Jorgen Vartdal Halse, Jens Kristoffersen, and Oyvind Monsen, it's not just another chatbot slapped on top of old systems.
- The platform currently handles about 250,000 customer conversations each month
- It serves around 60 brands across 5 countries
- Clients include VILLOID, HiFi Klubben, and Holzweiler
Instead of adding AI on top of legacy systems, Mimir claims to be a fully AI-native operations platform. It understands orders, deliveries, returns, and products, handling tasks end-to-end while fitting into the brand's existing workflows.
"Customer support is only the starting point," said Jorgen Vartdal Halse, CEO and co-founder. "Our vision is to automate the operational work that slows e-commerce teams down, while giving consumers instant, personalised help around the clock."
### Why This Matters for E-Commerce
E-commerce operations can be a mess. Returns, order tracking, delivery updates, product questions - it all piles up. Mimir's approach is to handle these tasks automatically, saving time and money for brands while giving customers instant answers.
The company says it enables stores to provide high-quality interactions around the clock, without needing a huge support team working in shifts.
### The Funding Story
Here's the interesting part: Mimir wasn't even looking for money. The company had grown about 7 times over the past year and was already profitable without any outside funding.
But then funds and customers started showing interest. Strong inbound interest from multiple investors convinced the team to take the round.
"We truly believe that customer service and e-commerce operations as we know it will be dramatically changed with AI," said Henrik Hatlebrekke, General Partner and co-founder at Sondo Capital. "The Mimir team embodies exactly what we're looking for; technically strong founders that combine a great product with a real market pull in a massive market."
### What's Next for Mimir
With this $600,000 pre-Seed round, Mimir plans to accelerate product development and double its team. The goal is to save even more time and money for e-commerce brands while expanding their reach.
So if you're running an online store and drowning in customer queries, Mimir might be worth a look. Just don't expect them to need your money - they're already profitable.
