Romanian startup Naratix raises $1.1M to build Europe's largest structured product database, targeting 1 billion products for AI-powered eCommerce.
A Romanian startup called Naratix just closed a $1.1 million Seed round to build what it calls the largest structured product database in Europe. The company wants to index 1 billion products and power the next generation of AI-assisted shopping.
### Who Backed Naratix?
The round was led by Early Game Ventures, a venture capital fund supported by the Recovery Equity Fund and managed by the European Investment Fund. This funding comes from the PNRR under the Next Generation EU initiative.
"Essentially, Naratix is building the largest structured product database in Europe, with the stated objective of indexing 1 billion products," says Chris Orasanu, CEO and co-founder. "This represents a strategic asset that powers not only today's commerce but also the next generation of AI-assisted shopping."

### Why Product Data Matters
Here's the problem: when you shop online, the same product might be described completely differently from one store to the next. One supplier calls it a "red running shoe," another says "athletic footwear - crimson." Retailers and marketplaces have to process millions of products, each with its own format and inconsistencies.
Naratix's platform takes raw, messy product information from online stores and marketplaces and transforms it into structured, standardized, enriched data at scale. Think of it like Stripe for product data - the infrastructure that makes search, recommendations, and conversions actually work.
### A Growing Trend in Europe
Naratix isn't alone. European investors are pouring money into startups that build the infrastructure layer of digital commerce. Just this February, Aarhus-based Cernel raised $4.4 million for AI-driven eCommerce data management. Other companies like Kopa.ai, nFuse, and Replenit have also raised funds for AI systems that support eCommerce teams, B2B ordering, and retail decision-making.
"What Stripe built for online payments, Naratix is building for product data in eCommerce: the infrastructure without which search, recommendations, and conversions cannot operate at their true potential," says Dan Calugareanu, Partner at Early Game Ventures.
### How Naratix Works
Founded in 2023, Naratix is already active in over 30 countries across four continents with more than 10 enterprise clients. The company combines proprietary AI agents with advanced heuristic algorithms to redefine how digital commerce operates.
The platform integrates natively with VTEX, Mirakl, Shopware, and other enterprise eCommerce platforms. This allows them to serve marketplaces with millions of products, enterprise retailers, and global brands while meeting increasingly strict EU requirements for product data.
### What's Next
In the short term, Naratix wants to strengthen its position in European markets like France, Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Greece, and Romania. It's also targeting Southeast Asian countries including Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
Long-term, the company has its eyes on the world's largest markets - including the United States. The funds from this round will go entirely toward accelerating growth, and Naratix is already hiring specialists with direct experience in global eCommerce ecosystems.
The company's mission is clear: become the global standard for product data. With $1.1 million in fresh funding and a clear vision, they're off to a strong start.
