Oslo-based AI startup Mimir raises $600K pre-Seed to automate e-commerce operations. Already profitable and growing 7x, the company plans to double its team.
Mimir, an Oslo-based startup that uses AI to handle e-commerce operations, just closed a $600,000 pre-Seed round. That's a big deal for a company that's already profitable and growing fast.
### The Funding Details
The round was led by Sondo Capital, a venture firm also based in Oslo. A bunch of experienced angel investors from the Nordic tech and e-commerce scenes jumped in too, including folks from VILLOID, Kry, Enode, and Whitson.
"Customer support is only the starting point. Our vision is to automate the operational work that slows e-commerce teams down, while giving consumers instant, personalised help around the clock. This funding round allows us to further accelerate product development, double the team, and save more time and money for e-commerce brands," said Jørgen Vartdal Halse, CEO and co-founder of Mimir.
### What Makes Mimir Different?
Founded in 2024 by Halse, Jens Kristoffersen, and Øyvind Monsen, Mimir started as an AI-native customer support platform built specifically for B2C e-commerce companies. Right now, it handles about 250,000 customer conversations each month for roughly 60 brands across 5 countries. Clients include VILLOID, HiFi Klubben, and Holzweiler.
Instead of slapping AI on top of old systems, Mimir claims to be a fully AI-native operations platform. It understands orders, deliveries, returns, and products. It can handle tasks from start to finish and tailors itself to each brand's existing workflows.
### The Bigger Picture
Here's what makes this story interesting: Mimir wasn't even planning to raise money. The company grew about 7x over the past year and hit profitability without any outside funding. But strong interest from multiple funds and some customers pushed them to take this round.
"We truly believe that customer service and e-commerce operations as we know it will be dramatically changed with AI. The Mimir team embodies exactly what we're looking for; technically strong founders that combine a great product with a real market pull in a massive market," said Henrik Hatlebrekke, General Partner and co-founder at Sondo Capital.
### Why This Matters for E-Commerce
- **24/7 Support**: Mimir lets stores provide instant, high-quality customer interactions around the clock.
- **Cost Savings**: It saves money on operational costs by automating repetitive tasks.
- **Scalability**: The platform can handle growth without adding more staff.
For e-commerce brands drowning in customer service tickets and operational headaches, Mimir offers a way to streamline everything. And with this new funding, they'll double their team and speed up product development.
### The Bottom Line
Mimir's story shows that sometimes the best funding deals are the ones you don't chase. When you build something that actually works and solves real problems, investors come to you. For a startup that's already profitable and growing like crazy, this $600K pre-Seed round is just fuel for an already fast-moving engine.
