Magic Vision, an Italian DeepTech startup, raised €600K to monitor seniors with AI and computer vision. Learn how Silver Eye detects falls without wearables.
When Federico Lanzani's grandfather fell and lay on the floor for an entire day, it sparked an idea that would eventually become Magic Vision—an Italian DeepTech startup using AI and computer vision to monitor and support older adults and vulnerable individuals. The company just closed a €600,000 funding round (about $650,000), led by SixS (the Italian company behind Gecos, a management software platform for the nonprofit sector) and a group of Italian business angels with expertise in law, compliance, and business development.
"Population ageing is putting pressure on care systems, which must meet growing needs with increasingly limited resources and staff," says Lorenzo Mauri, co-founder and CEO of Magic Vision. "Technology can make a practical contribution by enabling continuous monitoring and timely intervention when needed."
### A Growing Market for Tech-Enabled Care
Magic Vision's funding comes amid a wave of European investments in technology-enabled care during 2026. Germany's Patronus raised €11 million (around $12 million) for its elderly emergency-response technology, Spain's Tucuvi secured €17 million (about $18.5 million) for AI-powered nursing follow-up, and Portugal's Hope Care closed a €6 million (roughly $6.5 million) round for remote patient monitoring. Together with Magic Vision, these deals account for approximately €34.6 million (about $37.5 million) in funding. In Italy, Rome-based VoiceMed reported reaching €1 million (around $1.1 million) in cumulative funding for its device-free respiratory monitoring technology.
### Silver Eye: Monitoring Without Wearables
"Wearable devices, emergency buttons and other available systems had significant limitations," adds Federico Lanzani, co-founder and CTO. "We therefore decided to use our expertise in artificial intelligence to develop technology capable of recognising risks without requiring a person to wear a device or call for help."
Magic Vision was founded in 2023 by six co-founders with expertise in AI and computer vision. Based in Meda, in the province of Monza and Brianza, the company develops Silver Eye, an environmental monitoring system for older adults and vulnerable individuals. It's designed to support independence and assist families and care professionals.
Silver Eye uses proprietary AI and computer vision algorithms to analyse activity and rest patterns, identify behavioural anomalies, and detect critical events such as falls. Operating through environmental sensors—no wearables required—the system enables individual behavioural monitoring even in dynamic, shared settings like senior living facilities, cohousing, and private homes.
### Privacy by Design
The technology is built with privacy in mind: data is processed locally using edge AI, without storing or transmitting images. Rather than functioning as a video surveillance system, it analyses only the information needed to identify potential risks, alerting caregivers only when necessary. The goal is to support prevention and help older adults maintain their independence, providing technology for care models ranging from shared housing and home care to traditional residential and nursing care facilities.
### From Incubation to Market
During its growth journey, the startup benefited from incubation at PoliHub and support from ComoNExT's NExT Accelerator and Paradigma Exponential Hub, which helped connect the founders with investors. It also received a €30,000 (about $32,500) award from the Milan Monza Brianza Lodi Chamber of Commerce through the Switch2Product programme.
The funding has enabled Magic Vision to complete development and bring Silver Eye to market. Already deployed in pilot and commercial projects with Italian care providers, Silver Eye has more than 200 sensors installed, with a target of monitoring over 100 people by the end of 2026.
> "The idea for Silver Eye came from a personal experience: when my grandfather fell and remained on the floor for an entire day, I started looking for a solution that could prevent something similar from happening again." – Federico Lanzani
The company is also preparing a €1.5 million (around $1.6 million) funding round to accelerate commercial growth, build a network of partners and distributors across Italy, and begin its European expansion.
For US readers, Magic Vision's approach highlights how AI and computer vision can address the challenges of an aging population without invasive wearables. As the company scales, it could offer valuable lessons for American startups targeting elder care.
