Madrid's Talky Raises $1.6M to Teach AI Accounting's Unwritten Rules

Madrid's Talky raises $1.6M to teach AI the unwritten rules of accounting, automating 86-93% of documents without human intervention.

Talky Labs, a Madrid-based startup, just raised $1.6 million in pre-Seed funding to automate the messy, human side of accounting with AI. The round, closed in September 2026, was led by HelloWorld, Silence VC, Motive Force, and Aera Capital, with angel investors including Sebastián Gunningham (CEO of Remitly), Paul Golbaum (CEO of Lightbase and former CTO of Seedtag), and Javier Morenés. ### The Problem: Accounting's Unwritten Rules Every company does accounting a little differently. Those quirks—how to handle a weird invoice, when to escalate a transaction—usually live in people's heads, not in a manual. Talky's AI learns from historical records and team expertise, then applies that knowledge to new situations. > "Every company has its own way of doing accounting, and it's almost never written down. Talky learns those criteria, applies them to the hard cases and turns them into information for better decisions," says co-founder and CEO Jorge Beamonte. When the system hits a snag, it knows who to ask. That's a big deal for finance teams drowning in exceptions. ### How It Works Talky's platform reads invoices, suggests accounting entries, reviews tax info, and reconciles bank transactions before recording everything in the client's ERP system. The startup claims it processes 86% to 93% of documents without human intervention. Despite having just nine employees, Talky says it has processed over 1.8 million documents and more than $2 billion in client spending. Not bad for a company founded in 2025. ### A Hot Market for AI Accounting Talky's raise is part of a wave of European investments in AI-powered finance automation. In 2026 alone: - Belgium's Dytto raised $1.6 million for its AI assistant for accountants. - Denmark's Plinto secured $3.1 million for automated financial controls. - Germany's mika raised $6.4 million for AI-powered accounting and tax services. - UK-based Zalos obtained $3.3 million for enterprise finance automation. - Barcelona's Dolfin secured $2.2 million for adjacent financial workflows. Together, these rounds add up to roughly $71.5 million, including Talky's $1.6 million. ### What's Next for Talky? The fresh capital will go toward team expansion, product development, and infrastructure improvements. The company also plans to grow its presence among large enterprises and financial services providers that handle high volumes of transactions. Recruitment is a top priority. With only nine people on board, adding talent will be key to scaling. For now, Talky is proving that sometimes the most valuable AI isn't the one that replaces humans—it's the one that learns from them.
