Madrid's Talky Raises $1.6M to Teach AI Accounting's Unwritten Rules

Talky Labs, a Madrid-based startup using AI to automate accounting, raised $1.6M in pre-Seed funding. The AI learns each company's unique accounting rules to handle exceptions.

Talky Labs, a Spanish startup using AI to automate accounting and financial operations, just raised €1.5 million (about $1.6 million) in pre-Seed funding. The round closed in September 2026 and will help the team expand, speed up product development, and beef up its tech infrastructure. The investment came from venture capital firms HelloWorld, Silence VC, Motive Force, and Aera Capital. Angel investors included Sebastián Gunningham (CEO of Remitly), Paul Golbaum (CEO of Lightbase and former CTO of Seedtag), and Javier Morenés, among others. ### The Problem with Accounting's Unwritten Rules Every company does accounting a little differently. Those methods often live in people's heads, not in a manual. "Every company has its own way of doing accounting, and it's almost never written down," says Jorge Beamonte, co-founder and CEO of Talky. "Talky learns those criteria, applies them to the hard cases and turns them into information for better decisions." Traditional automation tools handle standard transactions fine. But unusual invoices or exceptions? Those often need a human to step in, which causes delays and mistakes. Talky's AI learns from a company's past accounting records and the know-how of its finance team. Instead of relying only on preset rules, it picks up on how previous transactions were handled and applies that logic to new ones. If it gets stuck, it knows which employee to ask. ### Traction and Team Founded in 2025 by Beamonte and Maximilian Letón (23), Talky has just nine employees. Yet it's already processed over 1.8 million documents and more than €2 billion (about $2.2 billion) in client spending. The platform reads invoices, suggests accounting entries, reviews tax info, and reconciles bank transactions before recording everything in the client's ERP system. According to the startup, it handles 86% to 93% of accounting documents without any human help. > "Two years ago, I met my co-founder Jorge Beamonte at a networking event. That night, I called my mom and told her: 'Mom, today is the most important day of my life. Everything is about to change.'" – Maximilian Letón, COO ### A Hot Sector in Europe Talky's round is part of a bigger trend. European startups in AI-powered accounting and finance are pulling in cash. In Belgium, Dytto raised €1.5 million for its AI assistant for accountants. Denmark's Plinto secured €2.9 million for automated financial controls. Germany's mika got €6 million for AI accounting and tax services, and the UK's Zalos obtained €3.1 million for enterprise finance automation. In Spain, Barcelona-based Dolfin raised €2.1 million for adjacent financial workflows. Together, these rounds add up to roughly €66.8 million (about $73 million), including Talky's. With the fresh funds, Talky plans to go after large enterprises and financial services providers that handle tons of transactions. Hiring is a top priority, and the team will keep improving the platform alongside existing customers. For US finance teams, Talky's approach is a reminder that automation isn't just about cutting costs—it's about capturing the institutional knowledge that walks out the door when employees leave. As more European startups tackle this problem, US companies might soon have more options to choose from.
