Madrid's Talky Labs raised about $1.6 million to teach AI the accounting rules companies never write down, automating up to 93% of documents without human help.
Accounting has a dirty little secret. Every company does it a bit differently, and almost nobody writes those rules down. They live in people's heads, in old spreadsheets, in that one email from three years ago. Talky Labs just raised money to fix that.
The Spanish startup closed a pre-Seed round of about $1.6 million (€1.5 million) in September 2026. The cash will go toward growing the team, sharpening the product, and beefing up the technical infrastructure. HelloWorld, Silence VC, Motive Force, and Aera Capital led the charge, joined by angels like Sebastián Gunningham, Remitly CEO Paul Golbaum, and Javier Morenés.
### Why the Unwritten Rules Matter
Here's the challenge. Corporate finance teams make accounting calls based on information scattered across ERPs, spreadsheets, emails, contracts, and plain old institutional memory. Standard automation tools handle the routine stuff fine. But weird invoices and exceptions? Those still land on a human's desk, which means delays and mistakes.
Talky flips that. Its AI studies a company's historical records and the judgment of its finance team. Instead of leaning on rigid predefined rules, it figures out how similar transactions were handled before and applies that logic to new ones. When it hits something genuinely unfamiliar, it knows which employee to ask.
> "Every company has its own way of doing accounting, and it's almost never written down. Talky learns those criteria, applies them to the hard cases and turns them into information for better decisions," says co-founder and CEO Jorge Beamonte.
The numbers are striking. Talky says its platform processes 86% to 93% of accounting documents with zero human intervention. It reads invoices, suggests entries, reviews tax info, and reconciles bank transactions before pushing results into the client's ERP. All of that from a team of just nine people, who've reportedly handled over 1.8 million documents and more than $2.1 billion (€2 billion) in client spending.
### A Hot Corner of European Tech
Talky isn't alone in this space. 2026 has been a busy year for AI-powered finance tooling across Europe:
- Belgium's Dytto raised about $1.6 million (€1.5 million) for its accountant-facing AI assistant
- Denmark's Plinto pulled in roughly $3.1 million (€2.9 million) for automated financial controls
- Germany's mika secured about $6.5 million (€6 million) for AI accounting and tax services
- UK-based Zalos landed around $3.3 million (€3.1 million) for enterprise finance automation
- Barcelona's Dolfin grabbed about $2.3 million (€2.1 million) for adjacent workflows
Stack those up with Talky's round and you're looking at roughly $72 million (€66.8 million) flowing into the category this year alone. That's not a coincidence. Finance departments are drowning in complexity, and investors clearly think AI can throw them a rope.
### What Comes Next
Founded in 2025 by Beamonte and 23-year-old COO Maximilian Letón, Talky now wants to move upmarket. The focus is on large enterprises and financial services firms juggling huge transaction volumes. Recruiting is a top priority, and the plan is to keep building the platform alongside existing customers rather than in a vacuum.
Letón's origin story is the kind you don't forget. He met Beamonte at a networking event two years ago. That same night, he called his mom and told her it was the most important day of his life. Bold claim at the time. Looking at the funding round and the traction since, it's hard to argue he was wrong.
