This Madrid Startup Just Taught AI the Unwritten Rules of Accounting

Talky Labs, a Madrid-based startup, raised €1.5M ($1.6M) to teach AI the unwritten rules of accounting. Learn how its platform automates 86-93% of documents and what's next.

Talky Labs, a Madrid-based startup, just closed a pre-Seed round of €1.5 million (about $1.6 million) to bring AI into the messy, human world of accounting. The funding, finalized in September 2026, will help the team grow, polish the product, and beef up its technical infrastructure. Investors include HelloWorld, Silence VC, Motive Force, and Aera Capital, plus angels like Sebastián Gunningham, Paul Golbaum, and Javier Morenés. Not bad for a company founded in 2025 by Jorge Beamonte and Maximilian Letón—who, at 23, is already COO. ### The Problem: Accounting's Unwritten Rules Every company does accounting a little differently. Those quirks—how you handle a weird invoice, when you capitalize a cost—usually live in people's heads, not in a manual. Talky's AI learns from your historical records and the know-how of your finance team. It picks up on patterns, applies them to new transactions, and when it hits something unfamiliar, it knows who to ask. > "Every company has its own way of doing accounting, and it's almost never written down. Talky learns those criteria, applies them to the hard cases and turns them into information for better decisions," says Beamonte. ### How It Works (and Why It Matters) Talky's platform reads invoices, suggests accounting entries, reviews tax info, and reconciles bank transactions before pushing everything into your ERP. The company claims it processes 86% to 93% of documents without any human touch. That's a big deal for finance teams drowning in exceptions. With just nine employees, Talky has already processed over 1.8 million documents and handled more than €2 billion (about $2.2 billion) in client spending. That's some serious traction for a pre-Seed startup. ### A Hot Sector Talky's raise is part of a wave of European investments in AI-powered accounting. In 2026 alone: - Belgium's Dytto raised €1.5 million for its AI assistant for accountants. - Denmark's Plinto secured €2.9 million for automated financial controls. - Germany's mika raised €6 million for AI accounting and tax services. - UK-based Zalos obtained €3.1 million for enterprise finance automation. - Barcelona's Dolfin secured €2.1 million for adjacent workflows. Together, these rounds add up to roughly €66.8 million (about $72 million). ### What's Next for Talky? The startup plans to expand among large enterprises and financial services providers that handle high volumes of transactions. Recruitment is a top priority—they're looking to grow the team while continuing to develop the platform alongside existing customers. For now, Talky is proving that even the most human of tasks—accounting—can benefit from a little AI magic. And with this fresh capital, they're just getting started.
