Konsileo, a UK-based insurance broker, just raised $6.4 million to grow its team and integrate AI. Here's why their organic, tech-first approach is turning heads.

### A $6.4 Million Bet on a Different Kind of Insurance Broker Konsileo, a UK-based chartered insurance broker, just closed a $6.4 million equity round. That's about £5 million. The funding was led by long-time shareholders Committed Capital and ACF Investors. It comes on the heels of a $3.5 million raise back in 2018 and an $8.6 million debt-and-equity round in November 2024. So why does this matter? Because Konsileo isn't your typical broker. They're growing organically, one broker at a time, and they're using technology to strip out the busywork that bogs down most insurance firms. ### The Brains Behind the Operation Founded in 2017 by John Warburton and Peter Henderson, Konsileo was born out of frustration. Both founders saw the insurance sector as slow to modernize and buried in bureaucracy. Warburton, who spent years at Aviva, Accenture, and Allianz, built the company around a "Teal" organizational model. That means no traditional management hierarchies. Instead, self-managed teams, coaching, and decentralized decision-making. Henderson brings the tech chops. He was deep into web digitization back in the 1990s, so he knows how to build platforms that actually work. Steven Harris, CEO of Committed Capital, put it simply: "John, Peter and the team have built one of the fastest-growing independent brokers in the UK, and they have done it organically, broker by broker, rather than through acquisition." He added that the growth rests on two hard-to-replicate things: a proprietary broking platform that strips out administration, embeds compliance, and now puts AI to work for brokers—plus a culture that attracts top talent. ### What Konsileo Actually Does Konsileo employs over 220 people and arranges more than $108 million in annual insurance premiums for businesses across the UK. That covers everything from construction and healthcare to technology and professional services. At the heart of it all is a proprietary, in-house broking platform. It automates admin tasks, embeds compliance checks, and helps brokers capture better risk information for clients. The firm also runs Riskube, a custom online platform that lets clients access and manage their policies directly. The goal? Free brokers from paperwork so they can focus on relationships and advice. It's a simple idea, but in insurance, it's practically revolutionary. ### Why This Funding Matters Konsileo plans to use the cash to attract experienced broking professionals, develop its tech platform further by integrating AI, and keep the organic growth momentum going. No big acquisitions. No shortcuts. Just steady, broker-by-broker expansion. Warburton, co-founder and CEO, said: "We've always believed that great brokers do their best work when you give them autonomy, equip them properly and support them rather than manage them. Our growth is a testament to what happens when you offer something genuinely different to ambitious brokers who want to build brilliant client relationships." That's the takeaway. In an industry known for red tape and old-school thinking, Konsileo is proving that a modern approach—one that trusts people and leverages technology—can work. And now they have $6.4 million more to prove it at scale.
