### The Funding Round That's Turning Up the Volume
Treble closed a Series A-2 round of approximately €15 million ($18 million), led by Paladin Capital Group. Existing backers KOMPAS VC, Frumtak Ventures, and the European Innovation Council (EIC) Fund also joined in. This brings the company's total funding to €36 million, following a €11 million Series A in September 2024.
Why the big bet? Because sound is the next frontier in physical AI.

Today's robots are mostly limited to visual perception. They can detect what's in front of them but struggle to interpret critical sounds—like a person falling in another room or a crash around a corner. Even understanding human speech in noisy, real-world environments remains a huge challenge.

"Yet today's robots are largely limited to visual perception... Even accurately understanding human speech remains difficult in real-world, acoustically complex environments."

### How Treble Simulates Sound to Train Smarter Machines
Founded in 2020 by acoustic engineers Dr. Finnur Pind and Jesper Pedersen, Treble has built a cloud-based platform that models how sound behaves physically in real-world spaces. It then uses that physics-based simulation to generate synthetic audio datasets and digital twins of rooms, vehicles, devices, and acoustic environments.
Think of it as a virtual replica of a room, a car cabin, or a device—but for sound. It captures how sound waves travel, reflect, and decay within that space. Because it's physics-based, the data holds up to the same engineering scrutiny as real-world measurements.
This approach is faster and cheaper than gathering physical audio recordings. Engineering teams can evaluate a product's audio performance and generate labeled training data before building prototypes. No need to travel to a field or lab to collect data—it's all done in simulation.
### Already Working with Amazon and Logitech
Treble isn't just a promising idea—it's already working with major consumer and industrial tech firms, including Amazon and Logitech.
"In many stages of developing Alexa as an AI assistant, we rely on virtual acoustic environments to accelerate product design and model development," said Wontak Kim, Senior Audio Research Manager at Amazon. "Treble provides an accurate and scalable way to model those environments."
That's a strong endorsement from one of the world's biggest tech companies.
### What's Next: Physical AI and US Expansion
Treble will use the fresh capital to deepen its push into physical AI and world models—systems designed to perceive and act within physical environments. As voice interfaces become dominant across wearables, humanoid robots, and autonomous vehicles, products will need to distinguish speech from background noise amid shifting acoustic conditions.
The funding will also support Treble's expansion into the US market. The Iceland-based startup aims to turn its simulation and synthetic data platform into core infrastructure for the emerging physical AI and robotics industry.
"AI models and devices that perform well in a laboratory can struggle when they encounter reverberation, background noise, or an unfamiliar physical environment," said Dr. Pind, co-founder and CEO of Treble. "Treble gives development teams at the world's leading device makers a faster and more scalable way to model those conditions, generate the data they need, and test products to ensure they work reliably in the environments where machines operate, and people interact with them."
