### The Funding Round
The round was led by Paladin Capital Group, with existing investors KOMPAS VC, Frumtak Ventures, and the European Innovation Council (EIC) Fund joining in. This comes after Treble's $13 million (€11 million) Series A in September 2024, bringing total funding to a hefty $42 million (€36 million).
### Why Sound Matters for Physical AI
Robots today mostly rely on vision. They can spot what's in front of them, but they can't interpret sounds—like someone falling in another room or a crash around a corner. Even understanding human speech in noisy, real-world environments is tough. As François Ruether, VP at Paladin Capital Group, puts it: "Paladin predicts that robotics will drive a profound wave of automation across the physical world. Yet today's robots are largely limited to visual perception."
Treble's cloud-based platform models how sound behaves physically in real spaces. It creates synthetic audio datasets and digital twins of rooms, vehicles, and devices. This lets engineering teams test audio performance and generate training data before building prototypes—faster and cheaper than recording real-world audio.
### How It Works
Treble's platform simulates sound waves with high physical accuracy—how they travel, reflect, and decay. Customers can create an audio digital twin of a room, car cabin, or device, eliminating the need to travel to a location to collect data. Because it's physics-based, the datasets hold up to the same scrutiny as real measurements. The company already works with Amazon and Logitech. Wontak Kim, Senior Audio Research Manager at Amazon, says: "In many stages of developing Alexa as an AI assistant, we rely on virtual acoustic environments to accelerate product design and model development. Treble provides an accurate and scalable way to model those environments."
### What's Next
Treble will use the funding to push deeper into physical AI and world models—systems that perceive and act in physical environments. As voice interfaces become dominant in wearables, humanoid robots, and autonomous vehicles, products need to distinguish speech from background noise. The capital will also support Treble's expansion into the US market.
