Manchester-based PropTech startup Street Group secures $270M investment from Hg, with plans to accelerate AI innovation. Founders remain in control.
Street Group, a Manchester-based company that builds software and AI tools for the UK residential property market, just landed a major growth investment from Hg, a heavyweight investor in European and transatlantic software firms.
### The Deal at a Glance
The investment values Street Group at over $270 million (roughly £200 million). That’s a big leap for a company that started out as Agent Software back in 2015. Before this, the company was backed by PXN Group, a Manchester-based venture capital firm that focuses on high-growth businesses in the north of England.
### Who’s Behind Street Group?
Street Group was founded by siblings Tom and Heather Staff, who serve as co-CEOs. They’ve built an integrated operating system for estate and letting agents—the folks who help people buy, sell, and rent homes. The company’s flagship product is a CRM called Street.co.uk, but they’ve expanded into lead generation with Spectre and AI-native tools like Cortex, which lets customers create their own AI agents.
Tom and Heather remain the majority controlling shareholders and will keep leading the business. That’s rare in a deal this size—most founders would have stepped aside.
### What the Founders Say
“We built Street to fundamentally change how estate and letting agents work, and AI is central to that mission,” the Staffs said. “In Hg we have found a partner who shares our long-term ambition, our product focus, and brings genuine depth of experience and operational expertise in scaling software and AI businesses.”
### Hg’s Track Record
Hg is no small player. The firm manages over $110 billion in assets and employs more than 400 people. Its portfolio includes around 60 businesses worth over $190 billion in combined enterprise value, employing over 140,000 people. Those companies grow revenue at more than 16% annually on average.
Louis Kinsella, a partner at Hg, explained why they invested: “Street is exactly the kind of business we love to back. It’s a category leader with a technical edge, loved by its customers, and is deeply embedded in their daily workflows.”
### What’s Next for Street Group?
With this funding, the company plans to accelerate product innovation and deepen its AI capabilities. They currently have over 200 employees and serve thousands of estate and letting agency branches across the UK.
Here’s what they’re focusing on:
- Expanding their core CRM platform
- Enhancing their AI-powered tools like Cortex
- Growing their team and customer base
- Staying true to their obsessive customer focus
### Why This Matters for US Investors
This deal shows that European PropTech is still attracting serious capital, even in a tough market. Street Group’s valuation at over $270 million is a strong signal that vertical software for real estate remains a hot sector. For US-based professionals, it’s worth watching how AI integration in property tech plays out—especially since the UK market often mirrors trends that cross the Atlantic.
Hg’s involvement also highlights the growing transatlantic connection in software investing. With a strong presence in North America and a vast European network, Hg is betting that Street Group can scale beyond the UK.
