Greenjets, a London-based aerospace tech company, raised $40M Series A led by Blossom Capital and backed by NATO Innovation Fund. The funding will scale production of advanced propulsion systems for next-gen aviation and defense drones.
A London-based aerospace technology company just secured a massive vote of confidence from investors โ including NATO. Greenjets, which builds propulsion systems, aircraft platforms, and launch technologies for the next generation of aviation, announced a $40 million Series A funding round.
The round was led by Blossom Capital, with major participation from the NATO Innovation Fund (NIF) and the National Security Strategic Investment Fund (NSSIF). Existing backers like Tanglin Ventures and NSFO Family Office also joined in.
### Why This Matters Now
This isn't just another startup raise. The conflict in Ukraine has completely reshaped how Europe thinks about defense and aviation. Drones have become the defining weapon of modern warfare, and the tech behind them is evolving fast.
According to the NATO Innovation Fund, Russia produced over 50,000 Shahed-class attack drones in 2025 alone โ up from just 11,000 the year before. And these aren't your average hobby drones. Newer variants can hit speeds around 310 miles per hour.
At those speeds, traditional propeller-based interceptors just can't keep up. Turbojets can, but they take up to two minutes to spool up and have supply chain issues. That's where Greenjets comes in.
### What Greenjets Actually Does
Founded in 2022 by CEO Anmol Manohar and CTO Dr. Guido Monterzino, Greenjets has developed patented engine technology that boosts aircraft safety while cutting certification costs. Their proprietary propulsion architectures range from electric ducted fans to geared turbofan engines.
Here's what makes their approach different:
- Their engines are designed for rapid production at scale
- They use low-cost manufacturing methods without sacrificing performance
- The same core technology works across multiple applications โ from drones to larger aircraft
The company claims their tech enables aircraft that are quieter, faster, and more efficient than what's currently available.
### From Development to Production
Greenjets isn't just a lab project. They're already under contract across multiple UK and international programs, with demonstration trials scheduled with the UK Ministry of Defence and partners this year.
The company has expanded its UK facilities from 12,000 square feet to nearly 70,000 square feet. And they're scaling up their team from 160 to over 250 people.
"The speed at which the defense and security drone industry is evolving means that propulsion is the constraint that determines whether an interceptor can close the gap on a 310 mph target or vice versa," said Patrick Schneider-Sikorsky, Partner at NIF. "Greenjets is addressing this at the engine and airframe level, meaningfully improving the performance of UAS and CUAS companies."
### What's Next
The company plans to use this funding to accelerate its transition from development to full-scale production. They're aiming to deliver thousands of systems over the next 12 months. Alongside scaling production, the investment will speed up development across their propulsion and AI capabilities.
For anyone watching the European defense tech space, this is a company to keep an eye on. They're not just building better engines โ they're building the foundation for an entirely new generation of aerospace technology.
