Amsterdam's Blue Health Intelligence secures $3.7M to expand its affordable, one-hour preventive health checkups across Europe, starting with France or Italy by 2027.
There's a new wave hitting European healthcare, and it's coming from Amsterdam. Blue Health Intelligence, a startup that's all about catching health issues before they become serious, just got a massive $3.7 million boost. That's right—they've secured the funding to take their unique preventive model beyond Dutch borders.
It's not just about the money, though. Look who's backing them: Knop Investments led the round, but they've also got support from serious players like Jeroen Tas, the former Chief Innovation and Strategy Officer at Philips. Even Dutch lifestyle influencer Anna Nooshin is on board. That's a pretty powerful vote of confidence.
### The Vision: Making Prevention Actually Accessible
So, what's the big idea? CEO and co-founder Onno Huyghe put it simply. "In countries like Japan, Germany, and the UK, regular health checks are just part of the system," he said. "But in the Netherlands? Not yet. We're changing that." The goal is straightforward: give people earlier insight so they can stay healthier, longer. It's about shifting from treating sickness to preventing it, and they want to make that shift affordable for everyone.
Founded just last year, in 2025, by Huyghe (a former exec at Swapfiets and Tibber) and physician Leanne Verdonck, Blue Health Intelligence has built something pretty compelling. They offer a comprehensive, 360-degree health checkup that they say takes just one hour and costs $325.
### What Happens in That One Hour?
You might wonder what you can possibly learn in 60 minutes. According to the company, it's a lot. Their team uses hundreds of data points during the appointment to assess key areas:
- Cardiovascular health
- Metabolism
- Liver and kidney function
The best part? You don't wait weeks for results. You discuss everything with a doctor right then and there. All the tests are done on-site by their medical staff, and your results are uploaded instantly to their Blue app. It's health data you can actually use and understand immediately.
### The Proof Is in the Bookings
This isn't just a cool concept—it's working. Since launching their flagship location on Amsterdam's picturesque Prinsengracht, they've already booked more than 2,000 people for in-person checks. In fact, they're so popular that their Amsterdam calendar is fully booked through November. That kind of demand speaks volumes.
### The Next Chapter: Crossing Borders
With strong roots in the Netherlands, the team is now eyeing international expansion. "Italy and France are top of our list," Huyghe added. "Paris and Milan show at least as much potential as Amsterdam in our research." The plan is to launch in one of those two major European capitals by the first half of 2027. It's a strategic puzzle, finding the perfect location, but it's the next crucial step toward their ambition: becoming Europe's leading preventive health platform.
They're not going it alone, either. They've already built partnerships with brands like TrainMore, Hotel & Wellness Zuiver, and Fosbury & Sons Amsterdam. This latest $3.7 million injection follows an earlier round where they raised over $1.2 million, showing steady, growing investor belief.
Maurits Koning from Knop Investments summed up the optimism: "Blue Health Intelligence has proven the demand for personal health insight. With thousands booked and a packed schedule, this investment is about fueling their next phase of product development and market entry."
It's a story about more than funding. It's about a tangible shift in how we think about our health—moving from reactive to proactive, one one-hour checkup at a time. And now, with millions in new backing, that shift is poised to spread across the continent.
