Cognitive Credit, a London-based fintech, raises $40M to expand its AI-powered credit analysis platform. The company's tools are used by 80% of top global asset managers.
Cognitive Credit, the London-based fintech that's bringing AI and data analytics to the corporate credit world, just landed a $40 million growth investment. The round was led by Summit Partners, with existing investor ETFS Capital also chipping in. This isn't the company's first rodeo—they raised $10 million in Series B funding in September 2024 and $6 million in Series A back in November 2021. But this latest injection of cash is a big vote of confidence in their mission to modernize how credit professionals work.
### Why Credit Markets Need a Digital Upgrade
Corporate credit is one of the largest asset classes out there—nearly $14 trillion was raised in 2025 alone, according to the OECD's Global Debt Report 2026. Yet the tools available to credit analysts have lagged behind. Most platforms were built for equity markets, leaving credit pros to wrestle with spreadsheets and outdated systems. Cognitive Credit saw this gap and decided to fill it.
Founded in 2017 by Robert Slater and a team of ex-credit analysts, the company set out to build a platform specifically for credit analysis. They understood the pain points firsthand: the lack of reliable data, the time-consuming manual work, and the need for audit-grade accuracy. Their solution? An integrated web app that combines verified data, advanced analytics, and generative AI tailored to the credit space.
### What Sets Cognitive Credit Apart
The platform's secret sauce is its proprietary dataset, built from analyzing hundreds of thousands of financial reports. This gives analysts on-demand access to audit-grade credit models and primary reporting libraries covering over 3,500 corporate bond and loan issuers across the US, Europe, and emerging markets. And because everything is traceable to the source, users can trust the outputs—a must for institutional clients where accuracy is non-negotiable.
> "High-quality data at speed and scale is critical to powering AI workflows that credit professionals will increasingly rely on for high-stakes decisions," said Chris Bon, a Partner at Summit Partners who's joined the Cognitive Credit board.
That trust factor is clearly paying off. More than 80% of the top 25 global asset managers by AUM and all top 10 global debt league table investment banks use Cognitive Credit to power their analytical workflows. The company has seen 240% active user growth and more than doubled its issuer coverage. Not bad for a startup that's only been around since 2017.
### The Product Suite: Built for Real-World Workflows
Cognitive Credit isn't just a fancy dashboard. It's a full toolkit designed to fit into the way analysts actually work:
- **Web application:** A central hub for credit research, combining data, analytics, and AI.
- **Excel add-in:** Streams proprietary financials directly into your existing spreadsheets—no more copy-pasting.
- **REST API:** Lets institutions integrate the data into their own tech stacks.
- **Claude Connector:** Allows analysts to query issuers and surface insights right within the Claude environment.
Every output is fully auditable and traceable, which is a big deal for compliance-heavy institutions. It's this emphasis on verifiability that's helped Cognitive Credit win over so many big names.
### What's Next for Cognitive Credit?
With this new funding, Cognitive Credit plans to accelerate its expansion into the US market and roll out next-generation products. First up is DealConnect, a tool that will provide on-demand access to detailed credit models for private issuers that report via secure data rooms. The company is also working on deploying agentic credit analysis—basically, AI that can act more autonomously to support analysts.
"Demand for credit-specialist technology will continue to accelerate from here," said Slater, founder and CEO. "With the imminent launch of DealConnect, ongoing innovation in our AI deployments, and many additional capabilities planned for 2027, we're offering credit teams the highest quality data and analytics they require for differentiated analysis and high impact decision-making."
For anyone watching the European startup scene, Cognitive Credit's journey is a prime example of how targeted innovation can disrupt even the most traditional industries. And with $40 million fresh in the bank, they're just getting started.
