Cloudgeni raises $1M for secure AI cloud agents

Cloudgeni, an Oslo-based startup building AI agents for secure cloud infrastructure, raised $1M in funding to expand across the Nordics and U.S. The platform automatically detects and fixes cloud misconfigurations without adding overhead.

Cloudgeni, an Oslo-based startup building AI agents that handle cloud infrastructure safely, just raised $1 million in funding to expand across the Nordics and the U.S. The round was backed by a mix of Nordic investors, including the byFounders Angel Collective, Norwegian VCs Startuplab and Antler, the CEO of Remarkable (the tablet maker), and Danish angel investor Nicolaj Hojer Nielsen. "We're thrilled to have experienced investors backing our next growth phase," said Iuliia Petryshyn Thuen, co-founder and COO of Cloudgeni. "With product validation in our home market, we're now focusing on expansion into the U.S., where we recently landed our first paying customer." ### What Cloudgeni actually does Founded in 2024 by Thuen and Davlet Dzhakishev, Cloudgeni built an AI platform that automatically detects, fixes, and proves the security and compliance of cloud infrastructure. It uses highly deterministic workflows, which means it doesn't guess—it follows precise rules to keep things safe. Here's the scary stat: cloud misconfigurations cause 99% of all cloud security failures. And the cost of managing all that governance? It's climbing fast. Cloudgeni claims to stop problems before they happen, fix them when they do, and provide continuous proof—all without adding extra DevSecOps work. The company follows a DevOps approach, automating tasks that would otherwise require manual handling. Think of it like having a super-diligent assistant who never sleeps and never forgets to check the locks. ![Visual representation of Cloudgeni raises $1M for secure AI cloud agents](https://ppiumdjsoymgaodrkgga.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/etsygeeks-blog-images/domainblog-782d1256-6785-489a-a0f5-d3f266286141-inline-1-1780232557079.webp) ### Why AI agents matter here "Cloud environments are getting so complex that keeping things stable without constant manual oversight is becoming impossible," said CEO Davlet Dzhakishev. "We believe AI will move from being just a support tool to actively running systems." He added: "Our AI agents both build and operate cloud infrastructure. They're designed so system owners can adopt them safely and reliably." ![Visual representation of Cloudgeni raises $1M for secure AI cloud agents](https://ppiumdjsoymgaodrkgga.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/etsygeeks-blog-images/domainblog-782d1256-6785-489a-a0f5-d3f266286141-inline-2-1780232562667.webp) ### Traction and what's next Cloudgeni has already won over big names in Norway, like industrial giant Hydro and shipping company Havila. They've also inked a partnership with IBM. The plan now is to grow their team and push further into the U.S. market. "We see huge demand from enterprises that want automation without sacrificing control," Thuen said. "Our agents give them exactly that." ### The bigger picture This funding round is a sign that investors are betting big on AI that doesn't just analyze—it acts. Cloudgeni's approach of building agents that are both proactive and provably safe could be a game-changer for companies drowning in cloud complexity. For now, the startup is focused on scaling what works. And with $1 million in the bank and big-name customers already on board, they're off to a strong start.
