Cloudgeni, an Oslo-based startup, raised $1M to build AI agents that secure cloud infrastructure. The company plans to expand across the Nordics and the US, with big clients like Hydro and Havila already on board.
Cloudgeni, an Oslo-based startup, just secured $1 million in seed funding. They're building specialized AI agents that build and operate cloud infrastructure safely. The company plans to use this fresh capital to expand across the Nordics and into the United States.
### Who's Behind the Investment?
The round was led by a group of Nordic investors, including the byFounders Angel Collective, Startuplab, and Antler. Notable individuals also joined in, like Vegard Gullaksen Veiteberg, CEO of tablet maker Remarkable, and Danish angel investor Nicolaj Højer Nielsen. It's a solid mix of venture capital and industry expertise.
"We're thrilled to have experienced investors backing our next phase," said Iuliia Petryshyn Thuen, co-founder and COO of Cloudgeni. "With our product validated at home, we're focusing on the Nordics and the US, where we've already landed our first paying customer."
### What Cloudgeni Actually Does
Founded in 2024 by Thuen and Davlet Dzhakishev, Cloudgeni built an AI platform for cloud infrastructure. It automatically detects, fixes, and proves security, compliance, and configuration health. The system uses highly deterministic workflows, so you know exactly what's happening.
Here's the problem they're solving: according to Cloudgeni, cloud misconfigurations cause 99% of cloud security failures. And the cost of managing governance keeps climbing. Their platform prevents issues before they pop up, fixes them when they do, and provides continuous proof—all without adding DevSecOps overhead.
### A DevOps Approach to AI
The company follows a DevOps mindset, automating tasks that normally require manual system operations. "Complex cloud environments make stable operations tough without manual oversight," said CEO Davlet Dzhakishev. "We think AI will shift from a support tool to an active operator."
He added: "Our AI agents both build and operate cloud infrastructure. They're designed for safe, reliable adoption by system owners."
### Traction and Future Plans
Cloudgeni already has the trust of major Norwegian enterprises like industrial group Hydro and shipping company Havila. They've also partnered with IBM. The startup plans to expand its team to support growth going forward. With $1 million in the bank and a clear focus on the US market, they're positioned for an interesting run.
