Birdsview raises $2.6M for its AI email agent Avys, which automates e-commerce retention messaging. The startup aims to replace both CRM software and agency services for online retailers.

Birdsview, a startup based in Leipzig, has secured $2.6 million in a Seed round to scale its AI email marketing agent, Avys. The funding was led by Fortino Ventures and Newion, with initial backing from TGFS during the pre-Seed phase. “Avys isn’t a better tool – it’s the worker. We started Birdsview after running a CRM agency ourselves, the exact business model Avys is built to make obsolete. We lived inside this problem for years, and now we’re ending it. The future of CRM isn’t better tooling for humans to work faster – it’s an agent that does the work,” said Ozan Brochwitz-Tuerker, co-founder of Birdsview. ### What Is Avys and Why Does It Matter? Founded in 2023 by data scientists Tim Kuesters and Ozan Brochwitz-Tuerker, Birdsview created Avys to handle e-commerce retention messaging from start to finish. The company claims Avys can do work that traditionally required both CRM software and an agency to run it. Retailers rely on repeat purchases, and email remains the most dependable channel for bringing customers back. But here’s the thing: while customer acquisition costs have jumped 222% over the past eight years, the core retention software most retailers use hasn’t really changed. It still depends on human effort. Traditional email software gives you the tools but leaves all the work to you. You need someone to segment customers, set delivery rules, and write the actual messages. As your product catalog grows, things get more complicated. Many retailers end up hiring an agency to manage it – and that typically costs three to five times more than the software license itself. “They pay twice: once for the tool, once for the people to make it useful. And even with a full agency team, the math caps out at managing customer segments. Nobody is writing to each customer individually – there aren’t enough hours,” said Birdsview. ### The Problem With the Current System The company argues this problem exists by design. Agencies are the incumbents’ largest sales channel, accounting for roughly 40% of revenue, according to Birdsview’s estimate. A vendor that automated the agency away would be dismantling its own distribution. That’s why, in Birdsview’s view, companies selling the tooling have little incentive to change it. ### How Avys Changes the Game Birdsview claims Avys is built to do the work itself. It reads a retailer’s catalog the way an experienced marketer would, decides what to say to each customer and when, and writes an individual email in the brand’s voice. The real magic is in the layer beneath those decisions. Instead of just seeing a product as a name and price, Avys analyzes how each item connects to the overall catalog, the need it addresses, the most effective sales approach, and the likely re-purchase timeframe. Birdsview built this product-intelligence layer alongside its first hundred customers. It now spans 1.2 million labeled products across 60 industries, learning from 52 million email interactions every month. The company’s position is that this data can’t simply be bought – and it grows more valuable with every new customer added. ### Proven Results Brands using Avys see 3x more clicks and 8x more revenue per email. Prominent market leaders in retail have already replaced both their email tool and their agency with it. “Birdsview’s agentic solution empowers retailers with a revenue generator on auto-pilot – making legacy SaaS and agency services redundant. I am excited to be partnering with Ozan and Tim as they disrupt the $56 billion retention SaaS and services market,” said Wouter Goossens, Partner at Fortino Ventures.
