Sweden's startup scene is on fire in 2026, with $1.4 billion raised across just ten rounds. From Legal AI to pet insurance, here are the biggest deals you need to know about.

With Stockholm-based Lovable announcing a $400 million Series C this week, we decided to take a closer look at Sweden's startup funding landscape in 2026 so far. And honestly? The numbers are staggering. Sweden has produced some of Europe's largest startup funding announcements this year, with Stockholm-based companies accounting for much of the capital covered by EU-Startups. From HealthTech and AI to FinTech, LegalTech and consumer brands, Swedish startups have continued to attract substantial rounds across a range of sectors. ### How We Ranked These Rounds For this ranking, we reviewed EU-Startups' funding coverage published between January 1 and August 14, 2026, ranking Swedish startups and scale-ups by the size of the company funding round announced or completed during that period. To keep the comparison consistent, the ranking excludes VC fund closes, acquisitions, grants, loans and credit facilities. Where an announcement represented an extension to an earlier round, only the additional capital announced in 2026 is counted. Together, the ten rounds below represent approximately $1.4 billion in funding. The two largest – Neko Health and Lovable – account for roughly 79% of that total, while eight of the ten companies are headquartered in Stockholm. That concentration says a lot about the Nordic ecosystem's gravity. ### 10. Lightbringer – $10 million Series A MalmΓΆ-based LegalTech startup Lightbringer raised $10 million in June to support its US expansion and further product development. The round was co-led by 6 Degrees Capital and Newion. EU-Startups previously covered Lightbringer's $4.9 million funding round in 2024. ### 9. Bits – $14 million Series A Stockholm-based FinTech infrastructure startup Bits secured $14 million to increase automation across financial crime and compliance workflows, expand its product capabilities and add further European data coverage. Alstin Capital led the round, alongside investors including Cherry Ventures, Unusual Ventures and Alliance Ventures. EU-Startups previously reported on the company's $4.7 million round in 2023. ### 8. Pit – $16 million Stockholm-based Pit emerged from stealth in May with $16 million in funding led by Andreessen Horowitz. Founded by former leaders from Voi, Klarna and iZettle, the company is developing customized AI-native software for enterprise operations through what it describes as an "AI product team as a service" model. Think of it as hiring a full dev squad without the hiring headaches. ### 7. AlixLabs – $17.5 million Series A Lund-based semiconductor startup AlixLabs announced the closing of its $17.5 million Series A in the first quarter of 2026. The funding is intended to accelerate product development, expand technical capabilities and strengthen relationships with semiconductor manufacturers. The majority of the round – $16.5 million – had already been subscribed in November 2025 before the final close in 2026. ### 6. Quartr – $18.2 million Stockholm-based financial data company Quartr closed an $18.2 million round in August to accelerate product development and expand its coverage of public-company data worldwide. Existing investor Altos Ventures led the funding, with SEB joining as a new investor. EU-Startups previously covered Quartr's $6.3 million investment from Altos Ventures in 2024 and an earlier $8.2 million raise in 2022. ### 5. Legora – $49 million Series D extension Legal AI company Legora announced $49 million in additional funding in April, extending its Series D to a total of $599 million and valuing the Stockholm-based company at $5.5 billion post-money. New investors in the extension included Atlassian and NVentures, NVIDIA's venture capital arm. For this ranking, only the $49 million of new capital announced in 2026 is counted. EU-Startups previously reported on Legora's $82 million Series B in 2025. ### 4. Lassie – $74 million Series C Stockholm-based pet InsurTech Lassie raised $74 million in February to expand further across Europe and increase its use of AI. Balderton Capital, Felix Capital, Inventure, Passion Capital and Stena Sessan participated in the round. EU-Startups had previously covered Lassie's earlier rounds, and this latest injection shows how much momentum the pet insurance space has gained. ### The Big Picture What's striking here isn't just the sheer size of these rounds – it's the diversity. Legal AI, pet insurance, semiconductors, financial data. Sweden isn't a one-trick pony. The ecosystem has matured beyond gaming and music streaming into deep tech and enterprise software. For investors watching from the US, these deals signal that European startups – particularly Swedish ones – are competing head-to-head with Silicon Valley for global dominance. And with Lovable's massive Series C leading the charge, 2026 is shaping up to be a banner year for Nordic innovation.
