Greentech Alliance acquires Intermobility to create a 5,000-member network linking mobility startups, investors, and cities across 25 countries. Can this solve Europe's coordination problem?

Greentech Alliance (GTA), a Berlin-based global network for sustainable tech, has agreed to acquire Intermobility, a Paris-based transport and mobility network with over 1,000 members. The deal, announced this week, aims to bridge the gap between mobility startups, investors, and cities across Europe. Financial terms weren't disclosed. ### The Coordination Problem Europe doesn't lack mobility technology; it lacks coordination. Charles Newton Price, CEO of Greentech Alliance, put it bluntly: "Europe does not have a mobility technology problem, it has a coordination problem. The capital, the startups and the cities are all there, but they rarely meet." By bringing Intermobility into GTA, the combined network will span over 5,000 members and partners across 25 countries on six continents. That's a lot of people who can now find each other. ### Why This Matters Now Transport emissions in Europe remain stubbornly high—25.3% above 1990 levels in 2023, according to the European Environment Agency. And funding for mobility startups is declining. In 2025, European mobility startups closed 654 funding rounds, down from 785 the year before, raising $10.1 billion in total private funding. Meanwhile, the sector needs an estimated $335 billion annually by 2030 to meet climate targets. That's a massive gap. ### A Network Built for Scale GTA was founded in 2020 by Lubomila Jordanova, Simon Thies, Hannah Kromminga, and Jan-Jaap Verhoeve. It's a curated global network for ventures, investors, educators, and partners building a regenerative economy. The organization is incorporated as both a Canadian not-for-profit and a German for-profit company. It currently counts more than 3,000 community members and partners across six continents, including over 700 investor members, and has facilitated more than 2,000 introductions. Intermobility was founded in 2022 by François Hoehlinger as a European network of transport and mobility players spanning private companies and public institutions. By bringing Intermobility's operators, cities, and public authorities into the same network as GTA's climate investors, startups, and corporates, the deal paves the way for a mobility solution to mature from pilot to scale. > "Mobility only changes when founders, investors, operators and public authorities move together. Intermobility built that table in Europe. Greentech Alliance gives it international reach and access to capital, while keeping a grounded European perspective at its heart," said Hoehlinger. ### What This Means for Investors and Startups For investors, GTA membership will now offer curated access to mobility ventures from both communities, alongside introductions to co-investors, corporates, and public buyers. For companies, it opens direct channels to customers, pilots, and capital across Europe and beyond. The two organizations will also explore joint ventures and financing projects, including work linked to GTA's Climate Zero programs, subject to separate approval. Hoehlinger will join GTA's board to help shape the Alliance's direction as it scales internationally. ### The Road Ahead Since its inception, GTA has successfully connected members on its network. With the acquisition of Intermobility, it has an opportunity to move beyond connection. Using its proven model of trusted introductions and curated membership, the alliance aims to bridge the gap between climate solutions and the funding shortfall. It's a big bet, but if it works, it could be a game-changer for European mobility.
