Health Force, a Barcelona-based HealthTech startup, just raised $4.6 million in seed funding to tackle this mess head-on with AI agents that actually do the work. ### The Funding Round The round was led by LUMO Labs, with participation from Step Venture, Next Tier Ventures, Target Global, and Calm/Storm. Jorge Blasco, Partner at LUMO Labs, explained why they invested: "As hospitals look for ways to improve efficiency without placing further strain on their teams, solutions that can automate repetitive processes securely and reliably are becoming increasingly important." He added that Health Force's proven deployments across leading European hospitals set them up for scale. ### What Health Force Actually Does Founded in Vienna in 2022 by Fadi Haddad and Dr. Juan Suárez, Health Force is building what they call "the operations layer for Europe's hospitals." Their AI agents automate tedious admin work, cut costs, and reduce errors. Think of it as a digital coworker that handles the boring stuff so human staff can focus on patient care. The problem is real: demand for care keeps rising, but hiring people for operational roles is getting harder. That gap leads to backlogs and delays. Health Force's agents close it by working alongside hospital teams, autonomously managing processes under human supervision. Here's how it works: the pre-trained agents use their own computers and logins to sign into the systems hospitals already use. They complete tasks end-to-end, and because they're built on a deterministic-first platform, every action is fully traceable. ### From Prior Auth to Claims Processing The technology handles hospital-insurance operations from start to finish—prior-authorization checks, claims processing, regulatory reporting, and more. According to the company, three out of four cases are completed without any human involvement. The remaining case is prepped by the agent and handed to staff with exactly what needs checking, which slashes resolution time. We offer hospitals pre-trained AI agents that log into existing systems and complete real work." He also highlighted how their single platform overcomes Europe's market fragmentation: the same system automating hospital-insurance workflows in Italy can automate SICA reporting in Portugal and aims to tackle KHVVG reporting in Germany next. ### What's Next for Health Force With the fresh capital, Health Force plans to expand its catalogue of agents into more hospital workflows, including quality reporting, clinical-trial operations, and resource optimization. They also intend to grow their engineering and delivery teams and push into Germany, France, and Spain. Headquartered in Barcelona with an operations hub in Milan, the company's agents already operate across Italy's leading hospital groups, including Humanitas and Gruppo San Donato, handling over 200,000 patient cases a year. Their platform is also used for hospital quality reporting in Portugal.
