Plinto, a Copenhagen startup, raises €2.9M ($3.1M) to help finance teams catch errors with AI agents that investigate and fix issues in real time.
Plinto, a Copenhagen-based startup, just raised €2.9 million (about $3.1 million) in pre-Seed funding to help finance teams catch and fix errors using AI agents. The round was led by People Ventures and Emblem, with a group of business angels also participating.
So what's the big deal? Well, if you've ever worked in finance, you know that checking whether transactions match agreements and rules is still largely a manual process. And that's where Plinto comes in.
### The Problem: Manual Checks Are Costing You Money
In large organizations, the volume of financial transactions is massive—way more than any finance team can manually review. Controllers typically resort to spot checks or end-of-month reconciliations, which leaves plenty of room for errors like incorrect prices, duplicate invoices, or mismatched deliveries.
And those errors can add up quickly, especially for companies operating on low margins. "Many of our customers work with low margins, so even small errors can quickly add up," said Nermina Suljevic, co-founder and CEO of Plinto. "The problem is that they're often only discovered after the money has been paid. We want companies to catch and fix errors before they hit the bottom line."
### The Solution: AI Agents That Investigate and Act
Plinto's AI agents sit on top of the systems companies already use—ERP, documents, bank feeds, and collaboration tools like Slack or Microsoft Teams. When a transaction is flagged, the agents don't just alert someone; they investigate, gather evidence, and follow up with relevant people inside and outside the organization.
For example, the agents can contact a supplier about a wrongful invoice, request a credit note, or prepare a correction for approval. That's a huge time-saver for finance teams.
And it works. One customer uncovered around 430 deviations per month in just one part of their business. Another customer had a duplicate invoice—submitted with a different supplier name—identified in the same minute it arrived.
> "Companies have systems that record every single transaction, but checking whether those transactions actually match agreements and rules is still largely manual. We're building AI agents that find deviations, investigate them and take action, so errors get fixed." – Jakob Nielsen, co-founder and CDO of Plinto
### Who's Behind Plinto?
Plinto was founded in early 2025 by Nermina Suljevic, Jakob Nielsen, and Sebastian Rehnby—all alumni of Peakon, the employee engagement platform acquired by Workday in 2021. The CTO, Andreas Garnæs, is also a Peakon alum. Together, they bring experience across product development, engineering, commercial scaling, and working with large international organizations.
### What's Next for Plinto?
The company plans to use the pre-Seed funding for product development, bringing on more enterprise customers, and making its first move outside Denmark. It wants to bring its agents to enterprises beyond its home market and help them find financial errors in real time.
Plinto's platform integrates with major ERP platforms like Microsoft Business Central, Xero, and Visma, and connects to major Scandinavian banks as well as over 2,700 other banks. It already has paying customers and pilots in logistics, real estate, facility services, and food production.
All data is processed and stored within the EU, and Plinto says it never uses customer data to train AI models.
For finance teams drowning in manual checks, Plinto's AI agents could be a game-changer. And with this fresh funding, they're just getting started.
